Call for Panel Proposals

The 38th International Conference on Very Large Databases (VLDB'12) invites proposals for panel sessions on all aspects of data management. We particularly encourage submissions on potentially controversial issues on topics of emerging interest in research and industry.

VLDB is a premier annual international forum for data management and database researchers, vendors, practitioners, application developers, and users. This year'sconference will be held August 27-31, in Istanbul Turkey.  The conference will feature research talks, panels, tutorials, demonstrations, and workshops. It will cover current issues in data management, database and information systems research.

The panel proposal should include the title of the panel, a short statement on its importance, relevance, and the potential issues of controversy, a tentative list of questions that will be posed to the panelists, a potential list of participants along with their affiliations, and ashort bio of each participant. 

Panel proposals should be e-mailed to one of the panel co-chairson or before March 28, 2012.  The authors will be notified of the decision by April 12, 2012.

Short panel summaries will appear in the conference proceedings.
